Long House at Baptist Village

The Long House is elegantly designed and appointed in the style and  manner of   Georgian Colonial.     This building is the center point for the campus and many of its first time visitors voice that it reminds them of a comfortable southern plantation home.  Its two-story entry is a favorite gathering place for many of its residents.  From this vantage point they can view both the main entry to the campus in a room with beautiful twin staircases that flank a chandeliered, two story entry  that lights both the first floor entrance and the second floor balconied landing.  The second floor balcony provides entry to the Village Store which is staffed by a community pharmacy and one of the beauty and barbershops on the campus.  The relationship with the pharmacy provides on site prescription delivery services to the residents of the Long House and the adjoining  Munro House apartments.

An elegantly designed Grand Room, which was built with the adjacent Munro House, with its chandeliered lighting, grand piano, and fireplace centers a lounge area furnished in the Victorian style.

The Long House consists of 48 apartments.   All 48 units of the Long House are licensed as assisted living to provide a continuum of care if or when the need for assistance might arise. All residents are encouraged to function as independently as possible in their homes in the Long House, but for those who do need some assistance, the 24 hour staffing of assisted living aides allows those residents to age with choice without leaving their own homes.

A full time activities director works to provide interesting, fun outings, parties, concerts, games, crafts and social events for the residents.    The Baptist Village van is utilized regularly to provide transportation to planned trips to area restaurants, shopping areas and banks.

The formal chapel is located off the central hall of the building and services are available regularly for all residents of the campus.   A chaplain is on site or on call for the residents of the campus on a 24-hour basis.

A covered patio opens from the chapel to provide an outdoor area for seasonal activities such as lemonade parties, ice cream socials and nostalgia events.  This patio area was recently covered with a porch like roof as a gift from  AT&T  with a grant. The actual construction labor was provided by Baptist Builders of the Southern Baptist Convention.
